What are warts?
A wart is a skin growth caused by some types of the virus called the human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV infects the top layer of skin, usually entering the body in an area of broken skin. The virus causes the top layer of skin to grow rapidly, forming a wart. Warts
can grow anywhere on the body, and there are different kinds.

Who gets warts?
Most common way of transmission is with direct skin contact; however, people may get infected in pools, sports centers, public baths and by sharing towels.

What do warts look like?
There are different kinds of warts:
1. Common warts: Skin colored or brown colored, hard skin growths on fingers, around nails and on hands.
2. Plantar warts: White warts on the soles of the feet. Black dots may be seen on the surface of the wart.
3. Plane warts: Light brown or pink warts with flat surface on the face and hands.
4. Filiform warts: Warts with skin-colored fingerlike projections and most typically on the face, neck, eyelids, nostrils and lips. They bleed easily.

What is the best method to remove warts?
Removal of warts with radiofrequency is fast, effective and painless. Any area can be safely treated by radiofrequency including eyelids and nailbeds. Scar may be minimal or even absent after healing.

How is removal of warts performed?
First the area is cleaned with sterile saline solution and a small amount of local anesthetic is injected into the area surrounding the skin growth to minimize a procedure-related pain. The radiofrequency hand piece is applied to strategically remove layers of the growth.
This process is repeated until complete removal is accomplished.

How long does a treatment take?
Several seconds or a minute depending on size and number of warts.

How to take care of the treated areas?
Keep the treated area dry for at least 12 hours.
Apply an antibiotic cream on the treated area and 1 cm around it, 2 times a day for 10 days.
Do not pick the scab, it will fall off on its own in the upcoming days.

Can warts come back after treatment?
Mostly, they do not appear in the area treated with radiofrequency; however, they may reappear in people prone to warts if immune system is weakened.
